The Car Seat Spare Key
Many parents have experienced the dreaded experience of trying to reach behind their child in the car seat, but not being able to apply enough force to remove the straps. A company called NAMRA has created The Car Seat Key to make this job much easier.
UK Auto Locksmith offers a cheaper alternative to buying the new key to your seat from the Seat dealer.
Lost Keys
If you've lost keys to your car first thing to do is check the place where you normally keep your keys. Some keys "drift" from their usual spot and end up on the floor or beneath something. It is crucial not to give up too soon, especially if you have checked the area more than once. If you've tried all of this and still aren't able to find your keys, call an area locksmith for help. Locksmiths are usually less expensive than dealerships for replacement of car keys. The locksmith will require details about your vehicle, such as its VIN or key code number. This will help them identify your vehicle and give the correct key for it to begin.
Broken Keys
The feeling of helplessness and fear come over you when a key gets damaged in your lock. Take your breath before you give up. It's not impossible. If you're lucky you might be able grab the broken piece using the help of pliers needle nose. If not, tweezers could work just as well (just be careful not to accidentally push the damaged edge further into the lock).
A great technique is to use the can WD-40(r), Smart Straw and the intelligent nozzle to directly spray into the keyhole. This can help the broken piece move out, and can also loosen any binds that are holding it in place. Try to wiggle it up and down or in and out to free it from the thing that is holding it.
Other methods have been tested by people, like using the paperclip on both sides to grab the broken piece and pull it out. You can also try a drill bit but make sure that you drill the hole through the exposed side of the broken part of the key, not the lock itself.
Keys damaged Keys
A lot of times, what appears be a serious hardware problem is really just a little bit of dust or grit under the key preventing it from working properly. Most of the time, you can fix the issue yourself without having to purchase replacement parts. All you need is a prying device (something such as a credit card is ideal, but you could use a flathead screwdriver if you are in a pinch) and a container to keep the pieces of the key while you remove them.
You'll also need a spudger for removing the stubborn dirt and grime from the key's grooves and a Q-tip for cleaning the pad. If you are able to remove the key and other internal parts ensure that you record their positions so that you can put them back together correctly in the future.
If the key is totally damaged in the ignition or fob, you will require an expert locksmith repair it for you. This is due to the fact that Seat uses a special 4 digit security code that is used to program keys to the car and they do not disclose this information to anyone, even the owners. With a specific tool and software, we're able identify the code and provide you with a replacement key at a cheaper price than the dealership.
